Can a social media post get you deported?

On a non-immigrant visa, yes. Every entry and every extension, the government is reviewing what you post.

Green card holders have more protection. One post probably won't end your case. But context matters, and everything you do after that post matters more.

If proceedings do get triggered, the government still has to take you to immigration court. There is a process. You have a right to defend yourself.

We can tell you exactly where that line is.

A husband and wife sailed through their green card interview. Living together. Happy couple. No red flags.

Then immigration pulled three international trips where he had introduced a different woman as his girlfriend at customs.

Complicated relationship status. We built the case anyway.

The show is real. The visa is real. The 90 days are real.

When a fiancé visa is approved, the person gets 90 days to enter the US, get married, and begin the green card process. If the relationship does not work out, they leave. Simple enough.

Here is what most people miss. If you came on a fiancé visa, did not marry that person, and stayed anyway, that decision follows you. Years later when you meet the right person and try to adjust status, it can block the whole process.

We have seen it happen. Save this before it becomes your situation.

A Syrian refugee and a Ukrainian immigrant walked the same hallway in Brooklyn for months before one of them knocked on the other's door with a crazy idea.

Abraham Hamra had the opportunity to purchase one of New York's most prestigious immigration law firms. He did not practice immigration law. Natalia Morozova did. They were the only two offices on the floor.

He knocked. She listened. They partnered.

That is the founding story of Cohen Tucker and Ades. Two immigrants who understand this journey firsthand because they lived it. That is not a marketing line. It is the whole point.

If you are navigating the immigration system reach out to a team that has walked that path themselves.

The days of failing a green card interview and just rescheduling are over.

Right now, if a marriage-based green card gets denied, there is no pause button. No coming back in six months with more evidence. You either win the case or you face a deportation order.

The margin for error is not what it used to be. Make sure the people building your case know that.

Immigration court in New York just went back to in-person.

Virtual hearings meant your client sat safely in our office no matter what the judge decided. That buffer is gone now.

If someone loses their case in that courtroom, ICE may be waiting at the exit. That is not a theory. That is what we are seeing.

Know where your case stands before you walk through that door.
