The National Association of REALTORS® has released its 2025 Profile of International Transactions in U.S. Residential Real Estate.

April 2024 through March 2025 📊

This annual report provides an objective look at the purchasing habits, origins, and demographics of international buyers in the U.S. housing market 🌍

Here are the factual highlights from the latest report:

📈 Market Volume and Transactions International buyers purchased $56 billion in U.S. existing-home residential real estate

💰 This dollar volume is a 33.2% increase from the previous year.

🏡 This is a 44% increase in the number of transactions compared to the prior year.

💵 Pricing and Financing The median purchase price for international buyers was $494,400, compared to the overall U.S. median existing-home sales price of $408,500

🏷️ All-cash transactions accounted for 47% of international purchases, compared to 28% among all existing-home buyers in the United States 💼

🗺️ Buyer Profiles and Top Destinations
The top five countries of origin for foreign buyers were, China (15%), Canada (14%), Mexico (8%), India (6%), and the United Kingdom (4%)

✈️ Resident foreigners (recent immigrants or visa holders residing in the U.S. for more than six months) made up 56% of these buyers, while non-resident foreigners purchasing from abroad accounted for 44%

👤 In terms of property usage, 47% of international buyers purchased properties intended for vacation use, rentals, or a combination of both

🏖️ Florida remained the top destination state, attracting 21% of all international buyers, followed by California (15%), Texas (10%), New York (7%), and Arizona (5%) 📍
