A will isn’t just for later in life — it’s for everyone who wants to ensure their loved ones are cared for and their estate is handled according to their wishes.

Here’s why having a will is essential at any age:

✅ Designates how your assets will be distributed.
✅ Prevents family disputes by making your intentions clear.
✅ Names guardians for minor children if you’re a parent.
✅ Simplifies the legal process for your loved ones.

Planning for the future means protecting the people and memories that matter most. Give us a call today to start your estate plan.

We understand that thinking about the future, especially the difficult parts, is never easy. But taking time to plan ahead is one of the most compassionate and caring steps you can take for the people you love.

When someone passes away without a will (legally known as dying “intestate”), it can create confusion, conflict, and unintended consequences for their loved ones.

Here are five important things that can happen without a will:

1️⃣ The state decides who gets what - Your assets are distributed based on state law, which may leave out important people in your life like unmarried partners or close friends.
2️⃣ The probate process gets longer and more expensive - Without a will, your estate goes through a lengthy court process. This can delay access to funds and increase stress for your family.
3️⃣ The court appoints a guardian and a custodian for your children - If you have minor children and haven’t named either, the decision is left to the court, often without knowing your preferences.
4️⃣ Family disagreements may turn into legal disputes - When there’s no clear plan, misunderstandings can turn into serious conflicts among family members.
5️⃣ Pets and dependents may be overlooked - Without specific instructions, pets and other dependents might not receive the care you intended.

If you’re ready to take the next step, our team is here to help you create a plan that reflects your wishes and protects the people you love. Reach out today.

While we hope the unfortunate never occurs, it is important to understand your rights in the event of a Halloween mishap.

Seasonal attractions like haunted houses come with inherent risks, but if something goes wrong, who is legally responsible? Liability is typically determined by state premises liability law, and not all waivers or assumed risks absolve the operator of accountability.

Big holidays can lead to choices that have big consequences. That’s why we’re reminding each of you to celebrate responsibly and plan ahead this Labor Day weekend.

In 2022, nearly 500 lives were lost in crashes over Labor Day weekend, and almost 40% involved a drunk driver. A safe ride home via a designated driver or a rideshare can make all the difference.

Our office will be closed on Labor Day as we take time to relax and recharge. We look forward to connecting with you when we return on Tuesday.

Wishing you a safe and relaxing holiday weekend!
