After sharing the West Pasco Bar Association’s tribute, I felt compelled to add a few personal thoughts about David Gilmore. David was so much more than a legal titan in Wills, Trusts, and Estates Law. He was a friend, a mentor, and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the privilege to know.
When I acquired his firm last year, David remained of counsel to Skipper & Skipper, P.A., and his wisdom and generosity enriched not just our team but also our clients. He approached every case—and every person—with integrity and compassion, reminding us all of what it means to truly serve.
Beyond the law, David's passions were equally inspiring. His stories, his laughter, and his unwavering dedication to his family and community will always stay with me.
To Kathie, Drew, Kelsie, and the rest of David’s family, my heart goes out to you. Please know that David’s legacy lives on, not only in the legal world but in the hearts of all of us who had the honor of calling him a colleague and a friend.
Rest in peace, David. You’ll be deeply missed but never forgotten
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our esteemed colleagues and Past President, David Charles Gilmore, on November 24, 2024, at the age of 72.
David was a pillar of our legal community, serving as President of the West Pasco Bar Association from 1992 to 1993 and dedicating his career to the practice of Wills, Trusts, and Estates Law. His contributions to our profession and his unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues will not be forgotten.
David's remarkable career included earning his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati, his law degree from the University of Dayton in 1978, and his admission to the Florida Bar in 1981. He achieved Board Certification in Wills, Trusts, and Estates Law and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Beyond his professional accolades, David was a respected mentor and friend to many.
David’s life was marked not only by his professional accomplishments but also by his devotion to family, his passion for golf, and his love of Ohio State Football. He is survived by his wife, Kathie, his children, Drew and Kelsie, his grandchildren, Luka and Henry, and many other beloved family members and friends.
