Andry has been extensively involved in complex class action and multi-district litigation. Andry served as lead counsel in numerous multistate/national class actions, which include Sutton Steel v. Centennial Cellular Communications, and Zyra Sonnier v. Radiofone. Andry successfully represented the Attorney General for the State of Louisiana in Ieyoub ex rel. Louisiana v. American To***co Company.
Also, notably, he was one of principal organizers of the class action suit filed against the United States Army Corps of Engineers, one of the only suits filed against that entity in which a verdict was rendered in favor of the Plaintiffs. Andry is presently serving as a member of the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee for the MRGO portion of In Re: Katrina Canal Breaches Consolidated Litigation. In 1994, Mr. Andry experienced firsthand how important an attorney’s ethical obligations are to ensure fundamental fairness in the judicial process. During that time period, Mr. Andry represented one of the co-owners in a suit against Fina Oil and Chemical Company pertaining to land contamination that resulted from the disposal of hazardous paint waste. During the course of the litigation, Fina’s lead counsel was cited for contempt for the destruction of environmental audit documents sought by plaintiffs during discovery. Not only did the judge bar lead counsel from this case and notify the state bar association, criminal contempt proceedings were undertaken as well. This experience, as well as many others in his career, has prompted Mr. Andry to speak at seminars about the importance of an attorney’s ethical obligations.
