This CLE webinar will guide healthcare counsel on NPDB reporting requirements and compliance when navigating through a contested peer review medical staff privileges matter.

The NPDB reporting guidelines set forth requirements with the potential to affect any licensed healthcare provider after an adverse action or malpractice payment.

Licensed healthcare providers should be aware of the applicable reporting requirements in the event of an adverse action. Eligible entities are required to report adverse clinical privileges actions taken against physicians and dentists and may report adverse clinical privileges actions taken against other licensed practitioners.

Listen as our authoritative panel of healthcare attorneys examines NPDB reporting compliance when navigating through and settling a peer review matter. The panel will address compliance challenges involved with a peer review matter and will offer best practices for dealing with reports.

Ambulatory surgical centers (“ASC’s”), particularly those whose physicians specialize in gastroenterology and endoscopy (“GI”), have been placing increasing pressure on anesthesiologists to enter into various financial arrangements that would allow the ASC or its owners to share in the income received by anesthesiologists who provide anesthesiology services at the ASC. These arrangements take a variety of forms, however, they all have one element in common: the ASC (and/or the surgeons who own the ASC), who are in a position to refer business to the anesthesiologists, are seeking to share in the revenue generated by the anesthesiologists who are the beneficiaries of such referrals…

Real-estate title claims come in many forms that can threaten the rights of landowners and  mortgagees.  They can involve undisclosed property issues, including fraud and forgery claims, easements, adverse possession, unknown liens, heirship disputes, and public-record errors.

New York City lawmakers have introduced proposed legislation to the City Council that would usher in a gradual increase in the NYC minimum wage between enactment and 2030, at which point the minimum wage will top out at $30.00 per hour. The proposed changes would apply to all private employers but would exclude federal, state and local government employers. The changes will be implemented using different schedules for employers with more than 500 employees and employers with 500 or less employees. The legislation, if approved, would also gradually eliminate the “tip credit” currently available for many employees who earn tips, such as waiters. The new legislation has not yet been enacted. Medicare & Medicaid Overpayment Demands/Audits: How To Avoid Them by Mathew Levy.

There is perhaps no more frustrating moment in a physician’s career than when a health plan or managed care company notifies the healthcare provider that the payor is now suddenly demanding that some exorbitant amount of money be “repaid” to the payor. The basis for such a demand?
