Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor the courageous law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. These men and women dedicated their lives to protecting others, standing in the gap during moments of danger, uncertainty, and crisis. Their commitment to service and the safety of others will never be forgotten.

We also recognize the families, friends, coworkers, and agencies who continue to carry the weight of that loss every day. Behind every badge is a person who chose a life of service, and behind every fallen officer is a community forever impacted by their sacrifice.

Law enforcement officers across this country show up each day willing to face challenges most people will never fully see or understand. Today is a reminder of the bravery, selflessness, and dedication it takes to serve others, often at great personal cost.

As we remember the fallen, we also extend our gratitude to those who continue to serve with integrity, compassion, and courage. Their work matters, and their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Please join us in honoring the lives and legacies of the officers who gave everything in the line of duty. We will never forget their service, their sacrifice, or the impact they made on the communities they swore to protect. 💙🖤

Week 3 of CIT training is underway, and today’s topics hit close to the realities we face on the job: aging interventions, trauma-informed care, officer wellness, and issues affecting our veterans.

A few key takeaways:

Working with older adults requires patience and awareness. What may look like non-compliance can often be confusion, medical issues, or cognitive decline. Slowing things down and recognizing those signs can make all the difference.

Trauma-informed care isn’t about being soft—it’s about being effective. Understanding that past experiences shape present behavior helps us respond in a way that reduces escalation and builds cooperation.

Officer wellness is critical. The job takes a toll, whether we acknowledge it or not. Taking care of physical and mental health isn’t optional if you want longevity in this career.

Veteran-related calls come with their own challenges. PTSD, TBI, and hypervigilance are real factors. Clear communication, respect, and staying calm can help keep situations from escalating.

The common thread through all of it: slow things down, stay aware, and approach every situation with intention.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and continue improving in how we serve our communities.

During Telecommunicators Week, we want to thank our dispatchers for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to our community. They are the first first-responders—providing critical support, lifesaving instructions, and reassurance when it matters most.
