People often assume that a criminal defense lawyer’s only job is to defend the allegations. These same people, acting with noble character, think only to plead guilty to the charges and face their consequences. However, a majority of the work of a criminal defense attorney entails managing both the root causes and consequences of a bad decision. Some of the work includes giving a client the resources to get treatment, pay restitution, attend counseling, or otherwise address what put them in a situation to be accused of a crime in the first place. This foundational work often serves to create a path beyond the situation at hand. A trial is not always necessitated to get yourself free from the potential consequences of finding yourself in a bad situation. Whether it is an OWI or serious felony, contact our office for help finding a path through the charges. That path may entail connecting you with resources, putting the state to their burden; proving your defense, or it may be helping a prosecutor to see this as an aberration of your otherwise good character. Regardless, we will be your guide.
