WTN 99.7 FM's Brian Wilson talks with John Harris, Executive Director of TFA and the attorney representing Judicial Watch, TFA and retired Sheriff James Hammond in the Covenant Manifesto litigation, concerning developments through June 8, 2023 with the "manifesto" litigation. Of particularly note was a surprise appearance by an attorney representing the parents of the deceased shooter who announced that his clients were in the process of transferring their daughter's manifesto and other writings to the parents of the Covenant School.

I received a call this week from someone who had questions about how to deal with a suppressor following the death of the owner. The individual had been referred to me by a federal fi****ms dealer who holds the license to deal with NFA items.

The answers depend a lot on the individual's estate plan (if any) and how the NFA item (suppressor) is registered. It also depends on who the potential recipient is if it passes by inheritance, whether it will be sold by the estate and even the circumstances pertaining the to personal representative (if any).

It did not take long at all to reach the first issue - the attorney who had initially advised the family/individuals involved was not familiar with and/or had not researched the federal laws (or state laws) regarding the ownership, possession or transfer of a NFA item following a death.

If you have a situation involving the transfer or possession of an NFA item, proceed with caution. There are many traps that could potentially lead to felony charges if you handle these circumstances incorrectly.

I am fortunate to be able to donate the time and effort to assist the Tennessee Fi****ms Association in filing amicus pleadings with the United States Supreme Court on issues that go to the very heart of our constitutional republic's foundations of government.
