THE COUNTRY MUSIC WORLD IS NOT IMMUNE.

Last Thursday, Hayley Baker, along with New York co-counsel Wigdor LLP, filed suit against country music legend for sexual assault. Counsel for Jane Roe made this move after Mr. Brooks tried to race her to the courthouse in an attempt to unlawfully silence her. Mr. Brooks’ statements to the media in the aftermath of our complaint are laughable given what really happened behind closed doors.

“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music. We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and his efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. What is verbal sexual harassment?

Verbal sexual harassment is when one person makes unwanted sexual comments about another person.

These types of comments can refer to someone’s physique, calling someone a derogatory name, speaking about a person in a sexual way, and more.

No one should have to deal with being verbally sexually harassed anywhere.

How does the media objectifying women encourage sexual violence? 
Societal norms can have a negative impact on how people are treated. When women are objectified in media, it desensitizes and normalizes sexual violence.  

The media can make horrible situations seem “not that bad” or “the norm.”

How can we combat this? 
💕 Spread awareness. 
💕 Avoid supporting media outlets that objectify women.
💕 Use your voice.
