I have sent email invites to many of you to a Fall thank you celebration at Chop’s restaurant in Plainfield on Tuesday October 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event is a “thank you” to all of you who I have had the extreme pleasure of working with these past years. We will have a mobile axe throwing vendor as well as a photobox there for your entertainment. Feel free to dress up for Halloween or not. Bring your family, friends, whoever you would like to enjoy the evening with. There is a separate evite that has been sent out by Alicia (thanks Alicia!). I am attaching the flyer that goes with the event. As part of the event, I am hoping to raise some monies for an amazing charity named Homes For Our Troops which builds and purchases custom homes for soldiers (many of whom are amputees) who served post 9/11 in honor of my father (Buzz Polizzi, a United States Marine) and my best friend’s dad (Terry Porter, a United States Air Force serviceman). Beginning next Tuesday, I will be participating in an ongoing monthly Zoom call hosted by the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN titled "Unpacking Racism for Action" as Americans from all over our country engage in an open discussion about race.
Two years ago, I took Nick Polizzi, Sana and Matthew (my kids) on our annual road trip through Memphis, New Orleans and Montgomery, Alabama where we visited important Civil Rights' sites including The National Civil Rights Museum, Dr. King's church and home in Montgomery, the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, and the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery on the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. King's assassination. In the very last section of the Civil Rights Memorial Center at that time was an exhibit that spoke to the idea of us Americans having an open dialogue on the issue of race. We as a people of many cultures and races often don't really know each other because we live in separate communities, go to separate churches, etc. (James Baldwin once said the most segregated time in America is noon on Sunday). I really believe that the best way to begin to heal our country and to advance as a people to achieving the great American ideals that have drawn people (including my own ancestors) to our shores for more than two centuries begins with honest conversation, open ears and an empathic heart. I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in this forum. I am sharing with you a video about "how to discuss the issue of race" that is being shared with the participants to review prior to our first session. As we receive more materials in the months head, I will continue to share. Enjoy!

My kids' dog Roxy disappeared on July 8th at 930 p.m. near their home in the Misty Creek subdivision in Minooka, Illinois near the intersection of Misty Creek and Dahlgren Lane. Roxy is a Yorkie Chihuahua mix who weighs about 3 pounds. Please share this post if you have friends who live in or near Minooka or if you think it could help find her. Thanks!
