Thanks to Craig Capilla and the Chicago Chapter of the Appraisal Institute for hosting today’s luncheon “Protecting Yourself - Volumes 1 and 2” where we discussed the significance of your work file and the importance of credibility, limiting conditions and assignment conditions while using appropriate and accurate language to create a bulletproof appraisal report!

Craig is always full energy, antidotes and war stories that make his presentations both educational and very entertaining. Looking forward to future volumes Craig!

Great impromptu lunch with my long time friend Jeff Jacobson. So much history and parallel paths…

Chip & Jeff = both of our fathers are SRA appraisers.

Chip & Jeff = both of us Bradley business majors and class of 1990. (Rival fraternities though)

Chip & Jeff = both of us worked for/with our fathers.

Chip & Jeff = both of us are SRA appraisers today (Jeff did go the extra mile for his MAI)

Chip & Jeff = both are past AI Chapter presidents.

And yes… Chip & Jeff are both still appraising.

My daughter was a 4-year varsity letter on the Dance Team, and my son is finishing his Junior Year as a 2-year varsity golfer and 2 years on the Freshman-Sophomore basketball team. Support youth sports and activities.

This building is 133 years old and has been in my family for over 100 years. It feels strange that we no longer own it, but I am very excited about my father donating it to the Foundation for the Preservation of Flossmoor History, where it will be beautifully restored, and act as the village's own local history museum.

Foundation for Preservation of Flossmoor History to renovate 2709 Flossmoor Road as a historical society and home for artistic endeavors.

This is a nice article authored by my friend and colleague Maureen Sweeney. It offers some great thoughts regarding the Appraiser-Realtor relationship and the appraiser’s responsibility in a real estate transaction.

Appraisers start from a high bar before they can take on their own assignments, but agents can still play a role in helping them determine valuations accurately.
