An amazing TV journalism career story.

In 1993, Ron Harig - then News Director at KMOL-TV (now WOAI) in San Antonio hired me as a freelance reporter for a whopping $8 an hour.
My first contract as a reporter was at KWES-TV in Midland-Odessa, Texas for $14k annually - which amounted to less than minimum wage.
But I learned a lot there and eventually became a producer / anchor of the morning show - which we took from third place to first place in the ratings.
While still at that small station, I signed on with the William Morris agency in NYC.
Next stop - San Jose, CA where I was the 11pm anchor. Again we went to number one in the ratings. Job offers poured in.
Within 3 years of starting my career, I landed a reporter/anchor spot at ABC7 Chicago.
Then WGN. I retired 7 years ago.
All credit to those - like Ron - who saw potential in me & mentored me. Ultimate credit to God. Such careers rarely happen.
I always say, if God did it for me, He can do it for you.
