The Kious Rodgers office kitties say it’s time to serve supper and go home for the weekend! 😹😻 Fred, the gray tabby on the railing, was born here 7 years ago, and the gray kitty in the foreground is her daughter, Smokey. The other two wandered in earlier this year and have also made our office home. Everyone was spayed/neutered thanks to Rutherford County Cat Rescue, and they are living their best feral cat lives. Happy weekend, everybody! 🤩 🐈‍⬛

Please join us in wishing our founding partner, John Rodgers, a very Happy 28th Anniversary with the firm! John co-founded the law firm of Kious & Rodgers on this day in 1997 with the late David Kious, and he has remained a steady and reliable presence for our team members and clients ever since. These days, despite once being dubbed “the LeBron of litigation” by a juror, John now mostly spends his time handling transactional and title matters and keeping us all in line at the firm. Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Today, we are celebrating Member Loren Sanderson’s 10th Anniversary with the firm! Loren expanded the firm’s family law practice when she joined in 2015, and she established her mediation practice in 2017. Today, she is our go to attorney for all things family law, including divorces, child custody, child support, and orders of protection.

Loren works tirelessly on behalf of our clients and is an integral part of our team. We are happy to recognize her today for all her hard work and dedication. Please join us in wishing Loren a very Happy 10th Anniversary! 🥳🤩🏆

We are delighted to announce that Rachel Hortert has joined the firm as Front Office Administrator. Rachel is a Murfreesboro native who graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in psychology in the future. Rachel previously worked for the firm as a runner, and her mom, Lora, is a longtime firm employee, so her smiling face will be familiar to many of you. Please join us in welcoming Rachel aboard! 🤩👏

You know what they say, you can’t make old friends! KRBS is thrilled to welcome Lora Hortert back to our team. Lora previously worked for the firm as a paralegal from 2008 to 2020, and she returns to reprise her role. She brings a true wealth of experience from her 20 years as a paralegal, her time supervising her own team at Tennessee Paralegals, and her work teaching paralegal courses for the University of Tennessee. We and our clients are so fortunate to have her.

Yesterday, we celebrated the 8 year anniversary of our wonderful Laken Manier joining the firm! Laken served as our receptionist and administrative assistant before becoming a paralegal this year. Kious Rodgers Barger & Sanderson, PLLC is thrilled to announce that Laws M. “Mac” Bouldin has joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. Mac clerked for the firm in the summer of 2021.

Mac graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Law in May of 2022 where he served as a Research Editor for Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law. He also has previous experience clerking for Senior Judge Don Ash and Circuit Courts Judge B. Jo Atwood in Rutherford County.

Mac received his undergraduate degree in Politics with a minor in Economics from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. While at Sewanee, Mac was elected by the student body to serve as the President of the Student Government Association and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, National Leadership Honor Society.

A Murfreesboro native, Mac’s roots run deep in the practice of law dating back to Judge Granville Sumner Ridley in 1868. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, fishing and playing golf, particularly on Monteagle Mountain and throughout the Cumberland Plateau. Mac also supports several of Murfreesboro charitable organizations including Oaklands Association, Main Street Murfreesboro, and Discovery Center at Murfree Springs.

Mac will be focusing his practice in the areas of real estate transactions, landlord/tenant, business formation, estate planning and civil litigation. He is admitted to practice law in all Tennessee state courts.
