Witnesses describe a scene of puree chaos, followed by a thick beige slurry that brought traffic to an eventual standstill. They say 46,000 pounds of applesauce spilled onto the interstate, which (according to initial calucations) is equivalent to 184,000 4-ounce containers.

In under a month, our namesake will be honored by the Illinois State Bar Association for his lifelong dedication to service and charitable endeavors.

The Illinois Bar Journal published an article this month concerning the monumental occasion. We could not be more proud of Mark. His efforts have advanced the lives of so many, and we look forward to celebrating his inspiring work on October 17, 2025.

We are honored to have them and thankful to the ISBA. Good luck as 2Ls.

This summer, rising 2Ls Macy Sanchez and Jaylyn Bower have had the opportunity to intern together at Hassakis & Hassakis, P.C. They coincidentally interned at the same firm after Jaylyn was hired, and Macy accepted placement through the ISBA Rural Practice Initiative.

They have been busy, from researching and drafting demands to sitting in on initial client meetings, depositions, and trials. What's been the best part is shadowing experienced local attorneys—many of whom are our own alumni—as they work on personal injury, workman’s compensation, and medical malpractice cases.

Macy and Jaylyn will continue to work at Hassakis & Hassakis, P.C. throughout their 2L year. They are looking forward to furthering their legal education under the guidance of our new mentors.
