I came across this random ad and it says that there used to be a minor league baseball league here in central Kentucky with a team here in Mount Sterling in 1912 and 1922. I have never heard this before. Does anyone know if this is true? (Updates in the comments)

SCAM ALERT - An alarming number of people have reached out to me about this text message going around today. I received it too. It says you have an outstanding traffic ticket and could lose your license. IT’S A SCAM! Here are a few ways to know why that is:

First, look at the sender. The .icu should be an indicator.

Second, Kentucky does not have a State Department of Motor Vehicles or even a DMV. The “Commonwealth” of Kentucky has the “Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.”

Third, there is no Kentucky administrative code or regulation numbered “15C-16.003.” It’s just made up.

Fourth, the website you are asked to go to to pay is also a HUGE red flag. Its ends with .vip.

Fifth and perhaps most importantly, you’re NEVER going to receive a text message regarding unpaid tickets or fines, especially ones you don’t know about. If anything, you would get a letter in the mail.

I’ve had three immediate family members receive this text message today. A lot of elderly people and/or people who aren’t too tech-savvy will be fooled by this. Please let your friends and family know: Don’t click on that link, don’t reply to that text. Just delete it.

Great coverage of our recent finish at the University of Kentucky Invitational. The Mount Sterling Advocate always does a great job covering our team. Also, the school just hung up our senior banners. We head to Owensboro this weekend for the regional tournament to prosecute a scumbag who burned down a house for insurance money. And then we’ll switch sides in a later round and defend him because he clearly didn’t do it and is a fine young innocent man 🤓⚖️

I just received the COOLEST present from Kathy Tipton Roussos, a ceramic replica of my office. Evidently in the 1980s a company contracted with small towns to make a set of replicas of local historic buildings. The Bell House (my office) was built in 1815 and for years it was the Jailer’s residence because the local jail was behind it in what is now a public parking lot. Thanks Kathy!

I bought this really cool vintage postcard of the previous Montgomery County Court House from around 100 years ago.
