Crockett on fire🔥

10/28/2021

I am retired from the practice of law, and this page was supposed to be deactivated by Facebook. I still have the same email address should former clients need to contact me. Please do not leave messages on this page.

I closed the litigation portion of my practice after almost 40 years. I will be handling family court mediations via Zoom until it’s safe to go back out and then they will be in person. Thanks for your confidence in me over the years. I enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you.

As we continue to make adjustments to our remote work locations, I wanted to let you know that I am finally able to receive voicemail. We are maintaining regular office hours. Zoom and telephone conferences are available. I am also conducting Zoom mediations.

While we are self-isolating, we are still able to meet by telephone or Zoom. Please email me for an appointment. [email protected].

We are living under circumstances unknown to anyone. We have no idea how a court may react to a violation of a parenting plan order. We can take guidance from the court’s paramount duty: To protect the child.

The rules of the pandemic requires every person to stay put in one household. The laws of joint custody require the exact opposite.

Jayne and I continue to work remotely from our homes, but we are scheduling telephone conferences, Zoom meetings, and Zoom mediations. The office phone line has been forwarded to my home land line (yes, I still have one) but I am not able to retrieve voice messages that are left. Email is monitored throughout the day, and regular mail is checked weekly.
Family Court judges will approve signed Agreements submitted with Affidavits in Lieu of Appearance, but SC has not yet approved us being able to notarize a signature electronically. The proposal for this was submitted to the Governor 2 weeks ago.
I hope everyone is staying home, if possible, and staying well.

03/19/2020

Pursuant to SC Supreme Court Order issued today, there will be no Family Court until May 1st except emergency hearings and cases required by statute to be heard. Emergencies will be screened. I am doing my part to help get us past the crisis by working from home. My office number has been forwarded, but voicemail is affected. Email is the easiest way to reach me. I will be returning calls from 843-884-8525 for now.
If everyone who is not an essential services employee will do their part by staying home as much as possible and practicing social distancing when out, we will get through this crisis.
