Before signing any agreement, it’s important to take the time to fully understand what you’re agreeing to.
A few key steps to consider:
✔ Read the entire document, including any fine print
✔ Make sure all terms reflect what was actually agreed upon—verbal promises are difficult to enforce
✔ Confirm the legal names of all parties involved
✔ Review payment terms, including amounts, timing, and method
✔ Understand termination rights and whether penalties apply
✔ Check for dispute clauses, including arbitration or mediation requirements
✔ Clarify timelines, deliverables, and expectations
Contracts don’t have to be complicated to create issues. In many cases, challenges arise from unclear or incomplete terms that seemed minor at the time. Taking a careful, informed approach before signing can make a meaningful difference down the line.
