Why arbitration agreements should not be enforceable against consumers:

Consumer protection laws face a fundamental enforcement issue: Because consumer claims are typically for small amounts, and litigation is expensive, it rarely makes economic sense for consumers to litigate their claims individually.

Consumer Alert:

If you have an adjustable interest rate loan (e.g., adjustable rate mortgage, HELOC, tied to the LIBOR (London Interbank Offered Rate), your loan terms and interest rate will likely change in the next year. The LIBOR will no longer be published as of June 30, 2023. If your loan's interest rate is tied to that rate, your lender will need to revise your loan terms and substitute a different index rate.

If your lender tries to substitute an index other than a spread-adjusted SOFR and your interest rate or other fees increase because of the change. Contact Connor Law to see how we can help.

The most widely used index for adjustable-rate consumer contracts, the LIBOR, will soon cease to exist.
