The City of Mt. Juliet Receives Federal Funding for Lebanon Road Widening Project

The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) and the Transportation Policy Board (TPB) announced the recipients of federal transportation grant funding, and the City of Mt. Juliet’s Lebanon Road Widening Project was selected as one of the award recipients.

The project will widen Lebanon Road to five lanes between Park Glen Drive and Curd Road. From Curd Road, the roadway will transition from five lanes to three lanes, connecting seamlessly with the improvements recently completed by TDOT near West Elementary School.

Mt. Juliet has been awarded an initial $12 million federal grant to complete the right-of-way (ROW) acquisition phase of the project. Once that phase is complete, construction funding is expected to follow, with an estimated $24 million in additional federal grant funding anticipated. GNRC grants cover 80% of eligible project costs, with the City providing the remaining 20% match.

This is a major milestone for Mt. Juliet and a direct result of years of strategic planning, collaboration, and persistence by City leadership. Officials have worked diligently to position this critical transportation project for funding, recognizing its importance to improving safety, easing congestion, and supporting the city's continued growth.

With funding now secured for the ROW phase, the City will resume engineering efforts to finalize project plans and prepare for right-of-way acquisition.

The City extends its sincere appreciation to the Greater Nashville Regional Council and the Transportation Policy Board for their partnership and investment in Mt. Juliet's future. This funding represents another significant step toward improving transportation infrastructure for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
