I was honored to be named Attorney of the Year at Legal Aid of East Tennessee's Pro Bono Luncheon today in Jonesborough. I appreciate the honor, but I feel it was largely undeserved because I get more out of helping LAET than I could ever hope to give. Most folks who know me know how important LAET is to me: I've proudly served as a board member for several years (and was President from 2022-24). But the Pro Bono Project has probably been the best way to work hands-on with LAET's clients and be with them with the needs they face in our court system.
It was good to spend some time catching up with Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Kyle Hixson as well. He is a fan of LAET and the volunteer spirit that drives our Pro Bono Project. We were at UT Law at the same time and we both "got the memo" to wear our orange ties for the Vols!
I always encourage folks to learn more about LAET and consider donating their time and resources. You can learn more at https://laet.org.
Have a great weekend!
