Unusual for a union to make such a statement. (However, their leadership probably knows that air traffic controllers are statutorily prohibited from striking, so it makes sense):

National Air Traffic Controllers Association tells its members that failing to report to work could cost them their job.

Below is an article about universities firing employees who made inappropriate (and in some cases, outrageous) online posts following Charlie Kirk’s murder (e.g. signaling approval for the assassination, mischaracterizing Kirk’s statements, and other vicious content). Many university faculty members are tenured, so it would be difficult to remove them. However, most other employees are at-will, so the schools can terminate them for this misconduct (and no, it does not matter to the law that the comments were made outside of work). Universities should be the kind of environment that seek to foster potent debate — including and especially involving controversial topics and opinions. This is especially so, given that the assassination occurred at a college in the midst of a free-speech debate. If universities, of all places, condone or ignore this kind of thing, then it will recur and colleges (and other venues of free thought) will be the first to suffer the most. And yes, most private employers of at-will employees can fire individuals who express support for political assassinations.

Workers feel a disproportionately high degree of layoff anxiety, reports show. But there are ways to use that fear to better position yourself in the job market.
