Director Charity Daugherty is back from an intensive three-day Director University Core conference, thanks in part to Illinois Heartland Library System. From great program ideas, best practice suggestions, legal guidance, and insights into the future of libraries- there is plenty to put into action at Kitchell Memorial Library!

Charity has been the director at KML for a year and a half now. She continues to learn and collaborate with Krissy and our Board to ensure our library remains the best it can be.

While we may be a small hometown library, we are always learning, growing, and finding new ways to make KML a place our community can be proud of.

🩶 KML’s first Teen Movie Night, featuring “Twilight,” was full of laughs with a great group of teens! Everyone sank their teeth into some great snacks- a big THANK YOU to People's Bank & Trust of Morrisonville for sponsoring our popcorn and to Bob & Lu Anne Stone for generously donating all the goodies for a caramel apple bar & root beer floats (as it was also National Root Beer Float Day)!

At Kitchell Memorial Library, we strive to be a community and information hub for all ages. We hope that adding a teen night will be a fun way to bridge the gap between our children's programs and our adult offerings, giving teens a place to connect, relax, and have fun at the library.

We received some great feedback on future movie nights and can’t wait to build this program into one that lives on forever! 📚🍿🥤

🌙 As we’re getting ready for tomorrow’s Teen Movie Night, we've had a few requests to push the start time back since a local practice doesn't end until 7:00 p.m. We want to give everyone a chance to make it, so the movie will now begin at 7:15 p.m.

We'll have popcorn, candy, and plenty of other goodies to enjoy! Feel free to bring a lawn chair, bean bag, or blanket to get cozy while you watch.

Signing up helps us plan for snacks, but it's not required - all teens are welcome!

Tomorrow Night — August 6, 2026
Doors open: 6:30 p.m.
Movie starts: 7:15 p.m.

🇺🇸 Did you see KML in the Morrisonville Homecoming and Picnic Parade?

This year's theme was “Hometown Heroes," and we couldn't think of a better fit than “Every Hero Has a Story to Tell." 📖

We had so much fun handing out goodie bags, bracelets, and suckers, and we were honored to be awarded 1st Place in the Decorated Golf Cart category!

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the Picnic & Parade. It takes a community of heroes to make it all happen, and we're happy to be part of it! ❤️🤍💙
