I started practicing law in West Virginia during the last week of May, 1987. In my time I have seen the introduction of the fax machine, the word processor, the personal computer, the internet and the smartphone. None of it can touch the feeling of questioning witnesses and arguing to the jury.

My first seven years was with a small firm of less than ten lawyers. I got to do a lot of things my peers in large firms waited years to do. Great training.

The next twenty years was with a large firm where I trained younger lawyers and represented a lot of well-to-do clients in complex and big stakes cases.

Since 2016, I have very much enjoyed a solo practice. I represent individuals, families and small businesses that couldn’t afford the rates I had to charge a few years ago in order to cover the overhead.

I have been very satisfied and grateful for my career so far. Many of my clients are now among my friends. That’s a great thing.
