Meet Melissa Burhenne, Legal Assistant:

Melissa grew up in Eastern North Carolina. Melissa joined the firm in 2016 as Edward Murrelle’s Legal Assistant. Melissa has a B.A. degree from East Carolina University in Hispanic Studies and speaks fluent Spanish. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and riding her horses.

Grace is originally from Arkansas. She moved with her family to Eastern North Carolina in 2003 making Eastern North Carolina her home. Grace joined the firm in 2020 and is the Legal Assistant to Martza Majstoravich. When Grace is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, and assisting at her church.

Meet Edward Murrelle, Partner:

Mr. Murrelle is from Greensboro, North Carolina, where he practiced for several years before moving to Eastern North Carolina in the ’90s. Mr. Murrelle’s primary practice areas are Personal Injury, Products Liability, Business Litigation, Insurance Matters, and Medical Malpractice. Mr. Murrelle received his B.A. in Economics from Guilford College. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University’s Law School in 1964. Mr. Murrelle has handled a wide variety of legal issues in his more than 50 years of practice.
For the past 10 years, Mr. Murrelle has been involved as a volunteer in a Senior Attorney program for which he traveled abroad to Russia, Hungary, and Poland to teach Civil Law. Edward enjoys coastal living and all it has to offer.

Ms. Hughes joined the firm in 2015. Amber‘s primary practice areas include Will & Estate matters and Civil Litigation. Amber was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina. She received a B.A. in English from UNC Wilmington and her J.D. from Elon University School of Law in 2014, She passed the North Carolina Bar that same year. When Amber is not at work, you can probably find her either on a boat, reading a book, or with her friends at the Morehead City Country Club. Amber is a member of the North Carolina Seafood Festival Board.

Ms. Majstoravich joined the firm in 2014. Martza’s primary practice area is Social Security Disability. Martza obtained her J.D. in 2009 from Barry University School of Law. She is licensed in Florida and North Carolina. Martza grew up in Eastern North Carolina. Martza serves on the Board of Directors of the Carteret County Historical Society because she loves the history and the people of Carteret County. She enjoys the beach and looking for sharks’ teeth with her daughter.
