Love what I do AND what I’ve done for my clients for over 16 years. It’s an honor to be involved with every client I’ve ever had. This client’s home, although a new build, had multiple plumbing issues (reversed hot/cold at several fixtures, a toilet supplied with hot water, and a vanity which had debris inside the plumbing supply pipe which greatly reduced water pressure) , a heat pump which was not functioning correctly, and a roof structure issue that was not caught by the county inspector.

Meanwhile....in todays episode of Inexplicable Human Tricks On New Construction...... This is a condensate drain with a trap. While I appreciate the workmanship, this creates 2 big problems. A) how do you service the drain and trap? B ) the drain empties within the vertical plane of the stone, which creates a situation in which the water will run behind the stone, causing damage behind the stone and adherence of the stone to the substrate. Although it looks neat, this is NOT a best practice

DO THIS NOW!! For all my clients, previous and current, agents, and even people who haven’t used my services- Right now is an excellent time to make sure you have no water intrusion into your crawlspace (as well as roof/attic area). All areas are concerning, but particularly crawls (because I know most of you don’t want to put on your skivvies to go down there!!) If you need assistance, advice, or need me to come give it a look, don’t hesitate to call 704 557 5727. This is the perfect time to catch any moisture issue after so much rain!

Warning to contractors and DIY’s…. I WILL call you out on this! Do it right the first time. For some unknown reason, there’s never enough time to do it right, but plenty of time to do it wrong and pass it off to someone else. Just Don’t!!!

I see the ramifications of not following span tables on a daily basis. This is especially true when dealing with “owner built” decks and additions. Please, if you don’t understand these span tables and you are considering renovating your deck or adding an addition, hire a professional who understands span tables and their meaning
