I wish that before people went into the ma*****na business they would be required to take some legal lessons on said business. It happens all the time. Someone will come to my office to file bankruptcy after their business goes sour. Unfortunately, I have to tell them that even though they are operating a business that's legal under state law, ma*****na is still illegal federally. As a result, bankruptcy, which is federal law, is not available to them because you can't run an illegal business under federal law and then use federal law to help you get out of debt that the illegal business caused. These ma*****na business owners are then out of luck and have zero protection from creditors. Seems very unfair, and it is. Classes on this should be mandatory.
