New Parent? Or have young kids? What would happen if you and your child’s other parent died in a car crash? Who would raise your child? Would your parents and the child’s other grandparents fight in court? Would your brother or sister insist on raising your child? Unfortunately, these sad cases can sometimes turn very ugly in custody court.

However, you as parents can make your wishes known in your last will and testament. Your say will not be binding in custody court, but it will carry significant influence and maybe dissuade and legal battle all together. The last thing you as parents want is for family to be fighting in court in the wake of tragedy. It happens all too often. Best to plan ahead.

Casha and Casha, LLC has been located in Montville, New Jersey since its inception in 1980, but did you know that the founders, Larry and Debra also have incredibly strong personal ties to the community?

Both Larry and Debra went to Montville High School. Larry captained the baseball team while Debra captained the cheerleading squad. Both Honor Students, Larry and Debra have spent their entire lives strengthening the Montville community and have been awarded for it by their enshrinement in the Montville High School Hall of Fame, Debra in 2002 and Larry in 2004.

Casha and Casha, LLC will be doing a series of posts exploring the founding of the firm in December of 1980 until today. Larry, one of the Partners at Casha and Casha started the firm out of law school with no experience. How that happened is a funny story.

It started with a tooth ache. Because of this tooth ache, Larry, while not yet a licensed attorney and still studying for the bar exam, went to his family dentist. His dentist who also owned an office building, refused to address his tooth ache until Larry, who had no intentions of opening up a law practice, got off of the dental chair and looked at a vacant office for rent. He didn’t know at the time, but that dentist planted the seeds of a now 6 attorney firm that has served thousands of clients over the last 41 years.

Starting a practice out of law school is a massive risk though isn’t it? Well yes, but Larry was able to feel comfortable taking that risk because of the other partner at Casha and Casha, his wife Debra. Married in 1978 Debra put Larry through law school and was the bread winner of the marriage working as a college professor until Larry was able to stabilize his practice. Larry thereafter returned the favor and put Debra through law school. After 17 years as a college professor Debra joined the firm practicing full-time in 1992.

With hard work, the firm which is now one of the premier firms in the state is a product of the chance the Cashas took.

We will continue to explore the firm’s history while also highlighting some of the amazing people who have worked and continue to work at Casha and Casha, LLC to make it the firm what it is today. Keep an eye out for the next post!
