From 2018 through 2025, Ben Heinz served as Program Director for the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association’s Deposition Boot Camp, helping young attorneys build practical skills they can take straight into their practice.

It’s one of the many ways Ben has stayed involved in Alabama’s legal community beyond his work at Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak.

Meet Megan K. McCarthy, a member of our Montgomery office with more than 20 years of litigation experience and over 180 cases tried in Alabama state and federal courts.

Megan’s practice spans auto liability, trucking defense, insurance defense, construction law, and other complex litigation matters. She is also a Past President of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).

Outside the office, Megan is an avid runner who has completed 20 marathons and ultramarathons.

Outside the office, Hope Hicks has spent more than a decade giving her time and leadership to organizations serving the Montgomery community.

Hope is a longtime member of the Medical Outreach Ministries Board of Directors and a Past President of the organization. Most recently, she added another role to her community involvement, joining the Board of Directors of the Capri Theatre.

Preserving local history requires dedicated advocates, and Graham Neeley is helping lead that effort through his service on the Landmarks Foundation Board of Directors.

The Landmarks Foundation works to identify and preserve historic properties, raise awareness of their significance, and protect the places that tell Montgomery’s story. The organization also operates Old Alabama Town, one of the city’s most recognized historic attractions.
