ETHICAL BILLING PRACTICES
Ethical Billing Practices, Capturing all time during your work day and tips for Paralegals and Attorneys to ensure they are adequately staffing and recording billable and non billable time.

DESCRIPTION:
Ethical Billing Practices, Sample Billing Entries, Proven Methods to Track time and ensure you are capturing all billable and non billable time.
What tasks do paralegals handle that the client can be billed for? What tasks are non-billable that paralegals do?
We will also discuss the reasons and benefits of capturing not only billable time but to track the time you spend on non billable tasks. Knowing these numbers can help firms increase their profitability thus increasing morale in the office and attorneys being able to pay their staff more.

The class will also include tips on tracking retainer balances, replenishments and ensuring that your client has retainer funds available for future work to be performed. I often hear attorneys and paralegals talk about how much their firms are owed on closed cases and the struggle to collect. If we aren’t billing our clients monthly and asking them to replenish their retainers, we risk never seeing a $1 of the final balance owed once the case is settled. We will discuss methods of setting up retainer expectations with clients and staying ahead of the game and replenishing funds.
