Successfully resolving a civil dispute for a client or helping a business achieve its goals is what I enjoy doing for a living.
I grew up in Orlando, Florida. After high school, I went to Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama) on a baseball scholarship. I was there for 5 years. After college, I worked for a family business distributing and selling soft-drinks to grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants. I worked in a number of areas of within the company: marketing, sales, negotiating contracts, deliveries, and collections. I experienced first hand some of the challenges businesses face everyday.
When I first started the practice of law, I worked for a mid-sized firm in Mobile. My practice centered on civil litigation matters. I defended lawsuits filed against our clients in the areas of construction matters, product liability claims, auto accidents, and premises liability claims. I also prepared legal opinions regarding the meaning of various insurance policy provisions—commonly referred to as “coverage opinions.” And, I represented insurance companies in various subrogation matters. The bulk of my time, though, involved construction matters. I litigated claims ranging from single story residences to multi-story beach front condominiums.
In 2007, I left that firm and started my own practice. Since that time I have focused on construction and insurance claims, collection matters, business law, and general civil litigation matters. I have litigated multi-plaintiff lawsuits related to construction defect claims, insurance coverage claims, and various collection claims. I have participated in jury trials to verdict in cases involving wrongful death, fraud, construction defects, collection matters, and auto accidents. A good portion of my practice also involves representing businesses with regular legal support for their day-to-day needs. I enjoy learning about my clients' business operations, which span a number of different industries, and stand ready to address their concerns as they may arise. My wife, daughter and I live in downtown Mobile and we spend our free time visiting with friends and family, watching college football, and enjoying the outdoors.
