I recently sat down with Jennifer Mayerle of WCCO to discuss the resolution we secured for our clients who were impacted by being exposed to the chemical TCE . While the legal resolution is significant, the true victory is seeing these families finally get the resources they need to focus on their health and recovery. People felt very wronged. I’ve been very moved to really get to know to my clients throughout the years. Recently explaining to them their portion of the settlement. The most important part we all felt was the accountability. Representing those who have been wronged is why I do what I do. Proud of our team for their tireless work on this case. Many thanks to Jennifer.

May his words be heard. From his speech accepting the Nobel peace prize in 1964. Here is a man truly working for peace.

“All that I have said boils down to the point of affirming that mankind’s survival is dependent upon man’s ability to solve the problems of racial injustice, poverty, and war; the solution of these problems is in turn dependent upon man squaring his moral progress with his scientific progress, and learning the practical art of living in harmony. Some years ago a famous novelist died. Among his papers was found a list of suggested story plots for future stories, the most prominently underscored being this one: “A widely separated family inherits a house in which they have to live together.” This is the great new problem of mankind. We have inherited a big house, a great “world house” in which we have to live together – black and white, Easterners and Westerners, Gentiles and Jews, Catholics and Protestants, Moslem and Hindu, a family unduly separated in ideas, culture, and interests who, because we can never again live without each other, must learn, somehow, in this one big world, to live with each other.

This means that more and more our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. We must now give an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in our individual societies.

This call for a worldwide fellowship that lifts neighborly concern beyond one’s tribe, race, class, and nation is in reality a call for an all-embracing and unconditional love for all men. This oft misunderstood and misinterpreted concept so readily dismissed by the Nietzsches of the world as a weak and cowardly force, has now become an absolute necessity for the survival of man. When I speak of love I am not speaking of some sentimental and weak response which is little more than emotional bosh. I am speaking of that force which all of the great religions have seen as the supreme unifying principle of life. Love is somehow the key that unlocks the door which leads to ultimate reality.”

Schmidt and Salita Law Team wants to honor and thank all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, including both the living and the deceased, during peacetime and wartime. The holiday celebrates the patriotism and willingness of veterans to serve and sacrifice for their country. To our family members, clients, friends and neighbors we say thanks many times over.

MN Fire does so much for firefighters and their families in this State, from training, to peer support, to crisis intervention, we are thankful to support such a positive and necessary organization.

On Memorial Day we honor those who gave the last full measure of devotion in their service to our country and securing our freedoms. We know Veteran’s Day honors all veterans and Memorial Day is typically reserved for those who have fallen .

I recently had conversations with several contemporaries who served and some Vietnam veterans. They all described the loss of fallen comrades and what Memorial Day means to those who are still alive. To those who have have given their service today has even more special meaning. Today, along with those who gave our lives we are honoring those who continue to carry the memory of those who are arm and arm with them.

We are proud to represent people like Anthony Pray. I’ve had many conversation conversations in my representation with Anthony about his service. Anthony served in Vietnam service began as an E2 in 1975. He was on the Kitty Hawk was on the fighter squad and was a crew chief. We are quite proud of Anthony’s service and thankful to him and all the other veterans. Anthony was honored with a special congressional recognition on March 21, 2025 by congresswoman Betty McCollum. It is the service people like Anthony who have to carry the memories of their fallen comrades and the people they worked so hard with to protect our freedoms that should not go unnoticed on Memorial Day. May all the work of those who are no longer with us in those who are have not gone in vain. Again, thank you to all those who served and to those who walk today with memories.

Well, well, well what do you know? It’s Doug Schmidt’s birthday today. We just wanted to wish our older – – – not old – – – friend Doug Schmidt happy birthday. A tireless advocate for his clients. He is the youngest man we know. Many more happy healthy birthdays Doug. We love you. By the way, this is a great picture.

On May 4, we honor the courage, dedication, and selfless service of firefighters around the world with international firefighter day. This is also  national fallen firefighter weekend. Whether battling fires, responding to emergencies, or supporting their communities in countless unseen ways, firefighters show up day and night. At Schmidt and Salita Law team we are proud to represent and support firefighters in many ways. They give their energy Health family time and occasionally their life for us. Our thanks is boundless.
