Dorsey Associate Morgan Craft led a Transactional Law Bootcamp in Dorsey’s Dallas office in partnership with the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL) and co-sponsored by Dorsey and the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA).

Morgan organized and drove the half‑day program, delivering opening remarks and moderating discussions focused on how deals actually get done in practice. Dorsey Partner Clay Pulliam and 16 other panelists also contributed to the program, sharing their perspectives throughout the discussion.

Dorsey proudly supported the event by hosting it in our Dallas office and sponsoring the reception, while TYLA provided additional support for lunch, refreshments, and program materials.

Through live mock negotiations and interactive deal simulations, attendees explored key transactional concepts, including representations and warranties, indemnification, purchase price adjustments, and risk allocation. The session also highlighted practical strategies such as identifying market terms, assessing negotiation leverage, and balancing legal risk with business objectives.

The program provided a valuable opportunity for young lawyers to further develop practical transactional skills and gain real-world insight into transactional practice. Congratulations to Morgan on leading such a successful and impactful program.

Dorsey’s Minneapolis office hosted a Plant Bingo event that offered colleagues a great opportunity to connect and enjoy a lighthearted activity together. Participants listened as Dorsey Partner and Minneapolis Office Co-Head Jamie McCarty called out numbers, hoping to score a win. Colleagues who won a bingo round were rewarded with a plant to take home, and participants also enjoyed light refreshments while playing.

Dorsey brought more than 70 senior associates from across the Firm to Minneapolis for a multi-day retreat focused on leadership development and the path to partnership.

The program featured conversations with Firm leadership on compensation, partnership, and business development, along with sessions on AI and positioning for advancement.

Attorneys also had opportunities to connect with colleagues during a leadership dinner and an evening at The Puttery.

Dorsey Partner Chris DeLong moderated a panel discussion with the deans of Minnesota’s three law schools at a luncheon hosted by the Minnesota chapter of the Federal Bar Association at the Minneapolis Club. The panel featured Mitchell Hamline School of Law Dean Camille Davidson, University of Minnesota Law School Dean William McGeveran, and University of St. Thomas School of Law Associate Dean Ben Carpenter.

The panel explored how law schools are adapting to artificial intelligence through curriculum development, skills training, and thoughtful consideration of ethical use as AI becomes more embedded in legal practice. Panelists also discussed evolving hiring markets for new lawyers, including the impact of earlier on campus interviewing timelines and the need to better support students as they navigate increasingly competitive entry level hiring. In addition, the deans addressed how their institutions are responding to current events and increased scrutiny of the legal profession, emphasizing the role of legal education in fostering professional responsibility and preserving the rule of law. The event also included the FBA chapter’s annual Law School Outreach Committee scholarship reception, recognizing three local law students. The panel received positive feedback for its thoughtful and timely discussion:

The Boise office hosted its annual Pop A Shot competition, bringing colleagues together for a fun and friendly challenge. After several competitive rounds, Dana Herberholz emerged as this year’s winner following a final matchup against Aaron Bell.

The Texas General Counsel Forum hosted an International Women’s Day screening of the award winning documentary A Law Unto Themselves: How Women Lawyers of Dallas Transformed Law and Community Together, with Dorsey as the event sponsor.

Dallas Partner Chelsea Hilliard, an Executive Producer of the film, participated in a post screening Q&A that highlighted the documentary’s seven decades of progress for women in the legal field. The documentary spotlighted trailblazing leaders such as Judge Barbara Lynn, Regina Montoya, and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. The conversation explored courtroom firsts, women becoming the first partners and practice leaders at major firms, landmark legislative achievements that shaped state and federal law, and the long standing advocacy efforts that advanced civil rights and community reform.

The film has earned top recognition, including the State Bar of Texas “Star of Achievement” Award and the Outstanding Member Program Award from the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations. The event also supported scholarships for women lawyers and law students through the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation and the J. L. Turner Legal Association Foundation. Attendees praised the program and the remarkable women it celebrated.

In partnership with The Sutton Trust, Dorsey’s London office welcomed four Year 12 students for a work experience program, giving them an introduction to a career in law. The Sutton Trust aims to improve educational and employment opportunities for young people and promote social mobility, a cause we are proud to support.

The students took part in activities designed to enhance their understanding of the legal profession and help inform their future career decisions, including:

•Q&A sessions with trainee solicitors, as well as lawyers from the Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Intellectual Property teams

•Workshops ranging from commercial awareness sessions to CV masterclasses

•Tasks including drafting advice for clients and working as teams to create and pitch an innovative new tech business

•A tour of the Royal Courts of Justice
