Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial told the judge they could not reach a unanimous decision, raising the question of what happens next.

Criminal defense attorney Ryan Pacyga joined FOX 9 as a featured legal analyst and one of the top criminal defense attorneys in Minnesota. In the segment, he explains what a “hung jury” really means, how long a judge can keep deliberations going, what options the court has when jurors are deadlocked, and what the possible next steps are in this case.

If you have ever wondered what actually happens when a jury cannot agree on a verdict, this FOX 9 segment breaks it down in plain language.

In our latest blog, we break down what really happened when the Minnesota Attorney General used civil lawsuits to keep alleged gang members away from the State Fair, and why that matters for both your rights and your family’s safety.

You will see how civil and criminal cases differ, how someone can be banned from the fair without a conviction, and what it means if you or someone you care about is suddenly caught up in one of these orders.

At Ryan Pacyga Criminal Defense, we believe true safety means protecting Minnesota families and the constitutional rights of every person the government targets.

Your life is more than a number on a chart

Federal judges must calculate the guidelines, but they also look at who you are, what you have been through, and what you are doing to change.

Strong mitigation and sentencing advocacy can turn a frightening range into a very different reality.

👇 That’s Lily on the left.Since taking her bar exam she’s been getting lots of training at our firm. Today she worked through federal sentencing guidelines on a drug case, learning from Ryan how to litigate a role adjustment to drive a sentence down in a conspiracy case. But that was just her morning.

🚗 This afternoon, she went with Marie to the scene of a case to meet with the client and to see how we prepare cases for trial. We don’t rely on pictures, videos or maps. We go where it really happened. Sure, it takes more time. But it makes a difference for our clients.

📚 Oh, and earlier this week? She learned how we begin a white collar federal fraud case. Jury instructions. Statutes. Hunting through 54,000 pages of documents to find which ones pertain to our client. The work can be long and tedious. But it needs to be done. And we enjoy teaching and mentoring.

Keep going Lily. We believe in you. We’ll give you everything we’ve got. 🙌
