Dating a subordinate in the workplace is always a risky proposition. The power differential will always cast the company/organization in an unfavorable light because it can be hard to determine if the relationship/intimacy was truly consensual as opposed to being intentionally/unintentionally coerced.

The Boston Celtics have suspended their head coach Ime Udoka due to an improper relationship with a female subordinate.

Owners/Management within all organizations should take heed to this warning.

A decision about Udoka's future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date.

Happy holidays everyone! We hope you all are healthy and safe. As the COVID-19 vaccines roll out many employers have been asking this important question “Can we required employees to take the vaccine in order to continue working for our company?”

Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Benefits Update as oh 3/16/2020:

As a result of the Gov. Walz’s executive order 20-05 states that current unemployment filings due to the COVID-19 will NOT be used in future unemployment calculations (for employers). Employers also do not have to pay in the usual surcharge to unemployment during this time.

Additionally, all employees who are furloughed, laid off etc. and file for unemployment, WILL have any waiting periods WAIVED and will be eligible for unemployment immediately. Encourage employees to go online to file for unemployment- this helps free up the hotlines for those who need alternate languages.

Employees can go here to file:

Pay now or pay later... either way you’ll have to pay!

Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Duluth (as of 1/1/2020) businesses need to make sure they are in compliance with these local sick & save time ordinances. We’re here to help if you are unclear where to start.

A city investigation found no employees at the Pizza Hut, 1101 Hennepin Av., or the Potbelly Sandwich Shop in the IDS Center downtown received pay for sick leave this year.
