A stroke changes everything. A plan changes what happens next.
Most families don’t think about long-term care until they are already in the middle of a crisis — a fall, a stroke, a sudden diagnosis, or a hospital stay that changes what comes next.
Then the questions come quickly:
Who can make legal and health care decisions?
What will insurance cover?
What type of rehabilitation is appropriate?
What support will be needed at home?
How will the cost of care be managed?
The Long-Term Care Playbook: An Expert Panel Discussion brings together professionals from legal planning, long-term care insurance, rehabilitation, and home care to help you understand how these pieces fit together before a crisis happens.
Using a real-life style case study, the panel will walk through what happens when a health event changes a family’s plans — from preparing legal documents and understanding insurance coverage to rehabilitation, returning home, and arranging ongoing support.
The goal isn’t to predict every challenge. It’s to be better prepared when life changes. Panel will include CareScout, Griswold Home Care for Lower Eastern Shore, DiPietro Law, LLC and PAM Health.

We’re proud to serve as a Corporate Sponsor of the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Southern Delaware. 💜
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia affect far more than the person who receives the diagnosis. Their impact reaches spouses, children, caregivers, friends, and entire families.
Through our work with older adults and their families, we see the challenges that can accompany cognitive decline—and the remarkable love, patience, and commitment of those who walk alongside someone they care about.
Supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is one way our team can stand alongside those families beyond the work we do every day.
We’re honored to support the Alzheimer’s Association and our Southern Delaware community as we walk toward greater awareness, continued research, support for families, and ultimately, a future without Alzheimer’s.

When a loved one needs a guardian, families are often focused on getting through the first legal step: having someone appointed.

But in Delaware, guardianship may require ongoing Court involvement. If expenses increase, real estate needs to be sold, Medicaid planning becomes necessary, or the loved one passes away, the guardian may need additional approval from the Court of Chancery.

Our newest blog explains some of the special requests that may come up during a Delaware adult guardianship and why guidance matters.

If you are serving as guardian for someone you love, you do not have to navigate the process alone.

The generations we celebrate today have shaped our families, strengthened our communities, and passed down the values that guide us every day. Their wisdom, resilience, generosity, and love continue to leave a lasting impact.

On National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate the stories they've lived, the lessons they've shared, and the legacies they continue to build.

From all of us at DiPietro Law, LLC, thank you for making our families and communities stronger.

Most people think about estate planning as planning for what happens after death.
But what happens if you're alive and unable to make healthcare decisions for yourself?
A stroke, accident, serious illness, or cognitive decline can leave families making difficult decisions during an already emotional time. Delaware's new Uniform Health-Care Decisions Act updates the law in important ways, but one thing hasn't changed: having a plan matters.

In this article, we share why incapacity planning deserves more attention, how the new law affects healthcare decision-making, and why naming the right people to act on your behalf can make all the difference.

Have you had conversations with your loved ones about who would make healthcare decisions if you couldn't?

When someone dies, the person named to handle the estate or trust may suddenly have a lot of responsibility.

It can be tempting to start paying bills, closing accounts, cleaning out the house, or distributing property right away. But taking action too quickly can create problems, especially when probate, trust administration, taxes, creditors, or family communication need to be addressed first.

Our latest blog explains what Executors, Personal Representatives, and Trustees should know before taking action after a loved one dies.

Every family has a story.

Some of our earliest memories come from the people who taught us what love, responsibility, generosity, and resilience look like. Those lessons often become the foundation for the legacies we leave behind.

On National Parents' Day, we celebrate parents, grandparents, stepparents, guardians, and all those who have helped shape the lives of the people they love.

Thank you for the memories you've created, the values you've shared, and the futures you've helped build.

Happy National Parents' Day from DiPietro Law, LLC.
