It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Marty Foshee, the father of our own Rebecca F. Howington. He was a staple in our office. From the beginning, he was there and helped build and shape this practice into what it is today.

Marty always made sure all of his office girls received love, flowers and candy for birthdays, Valentine’s Day or just because! He truly made us all feel like family! We will miss our “HR” and “Grandaddy” and our office will never be the same. As much as he loved us - we loved him even more.

We will post arrangements as soon as possible.

With real estate fraud happening every day, it’s important that you involve a reputable real estate attorney in every transaction and try to attend the closing in person. This is your home or a major investment that you are buying/selling, not a book from Amazon. Make time to be at the closing if at all possible! We are encountering real estate fraud almost every week. If your realtor tells you that there is no need to attend the closing in person and you can just find a notary somewhere, it’s time to start looking for a new realtor. This is the best way to stop land fraud. We love to meet you and see you at the closing table!

You may read this is wonder how can this happen?
It happens every day. Seller and Buyer mail outs are being requested daily in real estate transactions, which leads to this type of fraud. We strive to make every transaction smooth for both sides. It may be a pain, but this is why we do require our clients, when doing mail outs, to sign all closing documents with an approved title agent in their area. This ensures that we know the parties are who they say they are and helps prevent fraud from occurring. All real estate agents and attorneys need to be aware of how easily this can happen to anyone. Most closing attorneys require this because it is required by our title insurance companies. If your closing attorney does not require this level of diligence for mail away closings, you could be the next victim of land fraud.
