It was a privilege having Taylor Beachy work with our office during her senior year through the Working Wildcats Cooperative Education program. We were honored to present Taylor with the Working Wildcats Award at the Mifflinburg Area High School Senior Awards Ceremony. Tonight, Taylor graduates! She will be attending Mercyhurst University, majoring in intelligence, and playing soccer (and desires to attend law school thereafter). Congratulations, Taylor, you have a bright future ahead of you!

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our founder, mentor and friend, Charlie Ax, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. His positive impact on our lives is immeasurable and we miss him deeply. Our deepest sympathies go out to Charlie’s family during this time of mourning.

For over 45 years, Charlie served as a trusted legal advisor to many people of the Susquehanna Valley by guiding them through estate planning and administration, real estate transactions, business and municipal issues and domestic matters such as divorce, custody and support. Over these many years, Charlie served as the solicitor for the Monroe Township Supervisors and Planning Commission, the Union-Chapman Regional Authority and the Snyder County Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission. Additionally, he served on the Pennsylvania Governor’s Judicial Advisory Commission to appoint several judges.

Perhaps even more important than all these roles, however, was the tremendous responsibility he shouldered for nearly 40 years as the solicitor to Snyder County Children and Youth. He dedicated countless hours to protecting the most vulnerable population in Snyder County: abused and neglected children. In recognition of his outstanding performance in this role, Charlie was honored by his peers in 2013 with the Pennsylvania Children and Youth Solicitors Association Award of Excellence.

You did not have to talk with Charlie long to realize that he had an incredible sense of humor and that he cared deeply about every person with whom he interacted. Charlie was admired by our community because he helped so many people deal with their day-to-day legal issues—and he always did it with a smile on his face. May Charlie’s character continue to guide our firm so we may honor his legacy by caring deeply for all who seek our advice.

Congratulations to this awesome lady, Brittany Reichenbach, on celebrating 10 years with AxRunkle!! 10 years ago her outstanding customer service skills and personality caught our attention while she was waitressing at the Middleburger Hotel. She joined our team as our receptionist, grew into a legal assistant and now has worked hard to become a real estate paralegal and notary. We’re so glad she’s on our team!! Like with Brittany, we hire for work ethic, attitude and personality; the rest can be taught and we’re willing to do that. Attorneys Beau Hoffman and Jeremiah Runkle were pleased to support this enterprising young lady by purchasing a bunch of her tasty products to share with their staff. Avery set an initial goal of selling 200 hundred boxes of cookies. She hit that goal quickly and set a new goal of 300 boxes; she met that goal too! Way to go Avery!!

Administrative Assistant

Established, family-oriented law firm seeks full-time administrative assistant. 3 years of office or customer service experience highly preferred. Successful candidate for the position will be the “voice” and “face” of the firm. Daily duties will include:

• Opening/closing the office
• Answering phones
• Greeting clients and other professionals
• Managing firm calendar electronically
• Maintaining database of contacts
• Receiving, reviewing and distributing mail
• Drafting correspondence and documents for attorney review
• Scanning and emailing documents
• Maintaining office supplies and appearance
• Providing secretarial support to other team members
• Consistently attending work in a timely fashion during the regular work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (overtime required occasionally)

The successful candidate for this position will have:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Windows Explorer
