In Miami, home prices gained 2.27% year over year and 0.31% month over month in June.

“June’s numbers show a housing market that is finding its footing, though progress remains slow,” Cotality Principal Economist Thomas Malone said separately. “While the 0.4% monthly increase was positive, it was only half the typical pre-pandemic June gain. Annual appreciation accelerated across most major metros, suggesting the market is moving in the right direction despite an uneven recovery.”

The pace of home prices rose nationally overall but with significant regional differences, S&P Case-Shiller said.

Florida is about to get its first "supertall" high-rise, and the Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami is unlike anything the state has built before. At 1,049 feet, it's 100 stories of condos starting at $3.5 million, a $668 million construction loan, and a 1,003-ton steel pendulum at the top that keeps the whole thing from swaying.

The foundation pour alone ran 32 straight hours and required 1,400 concrete trucks. Now the tower is going up one floor a week.

We will see a lot of activity on Brickell Bay Drive in the coming years. Which means a lot of construction too...

In its place, Griffin proposes 300 apartments and a parking garage with more than 1,400 spaces.
