is in the books for my son and his Cascade High School Athletics teammates. Not only did they cap it by repeating as conference champs, IndyStar Sports also showcased his performance with a game-changing forced fumble.

He also took the time to write me a heartwarming letter that made me tear up. It's one of the most precious gifts I've ever received.

Thank you, son.

While this past Friday was filled with highlights, this Friday marks a particularly unique milestone: The first time in that history that two defending state champions from a year ago square off against each other in the opening round of the playoffs.

Tonight is my son's regular season finale for Cascade High School Athletics and I couldn't be prouder. Whether it's scoring touchdowns or earning recognition as defensive player of the game in last year's state title tilt, I cannot possibly express the amount of joy that I get from witnessing your success on and off the field.

But, all that pales in comparison to the young man you're becoming.

I still remember my Senior Night. I'm so glad that I get to share this special experience with you.

One step closer to reaching your goals.

Maximum effort every play. Every series. Every game.

You got this. Good luck tonight. I love you.

I've spoken at length recently about Florida Justice Institute's support and advocacy for women in vulnerable situations. Why it matters: Women are some of the fiercest defenders of civil rights/liberties and among the best leaders I've ever known. Moreover, it's the right thing to do.

Proud to stand with dear friends and colleagues from Americans for Immigrant Justice and The Women's Fund Miami during their recent showcases over the last few weeks. I appreciate being part of this ecosystem with each of you.

: I've told the story on a few occasions, but I got into the space after a visit to a women's prison for the first time. I met women who were: Mothers. Daughters. Sisters. Wives. Widows. Survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, among many others. Prison Policy Initiative estimates that state prisons in the U.S. incarcerate 81,000 women, with many of those suffering from some form of physical, mental, or emotional trauma.

Florida Justice Institute is proud of successfully securing justice for incarcerated women enduring sexual assault. There are many more examples of similar violence against women. Learn more about the scope of women's mass incarceration in the image below:
