IN MEMORIAM | STEVEN ALAN SCHECK

Zarco Einhorn Salkowski, P.A. mourns the passing of , a pioneering , accomplished hospitality executive and entrepreneur, and lifelong friend of Robert Zarco. He was 77.

A graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, Steve built a decades-long career in hospitality and entrepreneurship. He held leadership positions at prominent properties including the Hershey Motor Lodge and Convention Center, the Concord Hotel and New York’s legendary 21 Club. He later owned and operated four franchises and two full-service restaurants in Massachusetts, served on the National Franchise Association’s Board of Directors, and spent many years as General Manager of the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel in Studio City, California.

Steve was also a man of tremendous conviction. His willingness to stand up for what he believed was right led to Scheck v. Burger King Corp., an influential case that became part of his enduring legacy.

As Steve’s daughter, Hayley Scheck Antonian, reflected, her father’s courage and conviction became part of a legacy that continues to impact today.

But to , Steve was much more than the client behind the important case that helped shape his professional career.

More than three decades ago, Steve placed his trust in a young lawyer willing to fight for his cause when others would not. What began as an attorney-client relationship grew into a close friendship that endured long after the litigation ended.

“Scheck was a wonderful human being. His larger-than-life physical presence was balanced by his warm heart and teddy bear personality, yet he remained firm in his convictions,” Zarco said.

“We developed a personal relationship that lasted more than three decades. We spoke frequently and supported each other through personal life issues as they arose. I will miss him.”

Steve Scheck will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his courage to challenge the status quo, the faith he placed in Robert Zarco, and a friendship and legacy that became part of the history of our firm.

He will be deeply missed.

⚖️ American Heritage Pre-Law Students Return to Zarco Law

Zarco Einhorn Salkowski, P.A. was delighted to welcome students from the Pre-Law Society, Broward Campus, back to our Miami office for another opportunity to learn about the legal profession.

Led once again by Partner , the visit gave students a closer look at the practice of and the qualities that are important to building a successful legal career, including preparation, integrity, and good judgment.

Associate joined the conversation this year, sharing her own path to becoming an attorney and offering the students the perspective of a young lawyer in practice.

We thank American Heritage Schools and the Pre-Law Society for spending the day with us and are pleased to continue supporting opportunities for future attorneys to experience the legal profession firsthand.

From Student Advocate to Lead Coach: Braunstein Gives Back to Miami Law ⚖️

Nearly a decade ago, Zarco Einhorn Salkowski, P.A. Partner Michael D. Braunstein, J.D. ’17, was one of just four students competing on the University of Miami School of Law .

Today, after serving as the team’s primary coach for the past four years, Michael has helped build the foundation of a program that has grown to roughly 50 students and is achieving significant success on the national stage.

University of Miami News recently highlighted the remarkable growth of Miami Law’s Yvette Ostolaza Mock Trial Team and Michael’s role in helping develop key components of the program, including its intensive bootcamp, intramural competition, executive board structure, and rigorous tryout process.

This past season, the team coached by Michael advanced to the semifinals and earned an award for Best Memorandum of Law.

For , however, the impact extends far beyond competition results. He continues to give back to the law school that helped shape him as an advocate by mentoring and preparing the next generation of .

From four students to roughly fifty. From student competitor to lead coach. And now, helping prepare the next generation to lead in the courtroom.
