Plans submitted to the city show the developers who acquired Fort Lauderdale’s Galleria Mall envision nine 30-story towers that would house thousands of people, as well as a 170-room hotel.

🏠🌊 A potential government shutdown threatens a storm of its own in Florida's real estate market.

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)—which covers 1.8 million Florida properties—is set to expire. Without it, deals for thousands of home sales in flood zones across the state risk collapsing overnight, since lenders require this coverage to close.

The timing is brutal: peak hurricane season.
