The EB-1 visa is an employment-based green card available to those who demonstrate extraordinary ability in the sciences, the arts, education, business, or athletics.

I normally don’t speak too personally on cases but this case was very special to me. Mr. Ferreira is a Brazilian professional soccer coach living in Missouri who has coached soccer athletes (futbol, football ) from around the world. His commitment to his athletes have not only impacted their careers but impacted their lives as a whole.

In addition to being a professional coach, Mr. Ferreira created his own soccer team for the Brazilian community. He also worked for NGO as a way to create a safe place for impoverished young men to grow, avoid crime, drugs and other dangerous activities. Many of these young athletes were offered professional contracts and went on to become world-known athletes.

In the U.S. he is equally loved in his community as a coach. Due to his coaching, his team won national titles never won before and many young men were offered college or professional contracts. Lastly, Mr. Ferreira created one of the first exchange programs allowing young mid-western athletes to travel to Brazil, where they can develop their skills, embrace the Brazilian culture and create lasting friendships.

The Ferreira family were my first clients when I started my law firm. He and his family trusted me and my firm from day one. I am so honored to welcome them as green card holders here in The United States of America. Today, March 16th, 2022, The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued an 18-month Temporary Protective Status (TPS) program for Afghans who fled their country and have lived in the U.S. since March 15th, 2022.

TPS allows for people whose home county is experiencing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or extraordinary and temporary conditions, eligibility to apply TPS. Afghans who qualify for TPS will be granted work permits, protection from deportation and the ability to live safely in America.

The United States will open its borders to international travelers who are fully inoculated against COVID-19 starting in early November. Travelers will need to show proof of a negative test within three days of travel to the U.S but no quarantine will be required.

The United States will admit fully vaccinated air travelers from the 26 Schengen countries in Europe including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Greece, as well as Britain, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil.

Mayorkas announced a new 18-month designation of Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS)!

TPS will apply only to those individuals who are already residing continuously in the United States as of May 21, 2021 and meet other required criteria.

TPS allows for qualifying individuals to work and live freely without the fear of deportation. In order for a person with TPS to maintain his or her status, he or she must re-register for benefits during the re-registration period for his or her country designated for TPS.
