Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr. for Florida Bar President-Elect Roland Sanchez-Medina Jr. is an attorney with more than 25 years’ experience practicing law and serving his community.

Based in Miami-Dade County, he is a transactional lawyer who manages SMGQ Law, a firm he started with close friends and colleagues. He’s served on The Florida Bar Board of Governors for more than eight years and is Past President of the Cuban American Bar Association. Born in Cuba, his family was sent to the Belgian Congo when he was two. Seeking political asylum, he and his family lived there for

a few years before moving to Philadelphia where his father practiced medicine. Like all good Cubans, his father opened his orthopedic surgery practice and the family relocated to Miami. There he was enrolled at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School – an experience that helped frame his commitment to service for others. Roland lives in Miami and has three children, ages 23, 22 and 15.
