In what was designed to be a major joint operation by many federal agencies named Operation “Cedar Sweep”, our office was able to obtain a complete dismissal of all charges for our clients. It was deemed to be a major victory for the defense and not something common by the Department of Justice as stated in the Miami Herald. Hassan was also able to obtain a favorable outcome for a client that was charged in a twenty-six (26) count Indictment of Aggravated Identity Theft and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon. In an operation called Operation “Smoking Gun” which was created to eliminate fi****ms off the streets of Broward County, hundreds of surveillance videos were obtained with multiple government undercover agents posing as weapons purchaser, Mr. Hassan was able to have twenty-four (24) of the twenty-six (26) counts dropped. The client was initially facing seventy-eight (78) years in the Bureau of Prisons and ultimately ended up obtaining a favorable result of three (3) years with the Bureau of Prisons. Hassan was retained to represent an individual charged with Aggravated Identity Theft and numerous other credit charges in Federal Court. There were four (4) co-Defendants all charged with the same offense. Hassan was able to obtain a favorable outcome for his client where they were placed on probation. The other three (3) co-Defendants were convicted and placed into custody for a period ranging from thirty-six (36) months to seventy-two (72) months.
