🚨 HUGE IMMIGRATION UPDATE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS & EXCHANGE VISITORS 🚨

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially issued a final rule eliminating the "duration of status" framework for F, J, and I visas. Moving forward, indefinite stays are being replaced by a strict, fixed period of admission.

4-Year Cap: Visas will now be limited to the length of your specific program, up to a strict maximum of 4 years.

Shorter Grace Period: The post-graduation window to prepare for departure, change status, or transfer schools is being slashed from 60 days down to 30 days.

Current Visa Holders: If you are already in the U.S. under the old rules, you will automatically transition to the new system, with your stay capped at a maximum of 4 years from the effective date.

📆 Timeline: The rule goes into effect 60 days after its upcoming publication in the Federal Register.

Staying compliant under these new guidelines is critical to protecting your academic future. Don't leave your legal status to chance.

Great news on a Friday! Today a U.S. Federal Judge struck down the 39 country ban. On December 16, 2025 President Trump had issued a proclamation denying entrance to the U.S. for anyone from those countries. This applied to asylum cases, immigrant visas and family based petitions and certain non-immigrant visas. Effectively, anyone overseas or in the U.S. from these countries were banned from moving forward with any application or entry to the U.S.
Spouses of U.S. Citizen active duty military, contractors and GS employees were denied approval and immigration of their family members because of this proclamation.
