The Department of State just announced a temporary fast-track rule for visitor visas (B-1/B-2). From July 1 to December 31, 2026, you can pay a $750 fee to lock in an interview appointment within 10 business days at select locations.

Great news on a Friday! Today a U.S. Federal Judge struck down the 39 country ban. On December 16, 2025 President Trump had issued a proclamation denying entrance to the U.S. for anyone from those countries. This applied to asylum cases, immigrant visas and family based petitions and certain non-immigrant visas. Effectively, anyone overseas or in the U.S. from these countries were banned from moving forward with any application or entry to the U.S.
Spouses of U.S. Citizen active duty military, contractors and GS employees were denied approval and immigration of their family members because of this proclamation.

Today USCIS announced in a policy memo that they will only grant Adjustment of Status" inside the United States to legal permanent residency in extraordinary circumstances.

Please don't forget that legal permanent residents of the U.S. , including German nationals, can lose their U.S. status by living abroad after their spouse is no longer working for the U.S. government or a U.S. corporation overseas. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has outlined his plans for the new year based on his conversations with President-elect Donald Trump; Florida Phoenix News reported on January 7, 2025.

DeSantis emphasized the need to prepare for what Trump has called the “largest deportation effort in American history.”

He shared, “I’ve spoken with President-elect Trump about when he comes in - there's going to be a lot of executive orders taken. There's going to be a lot of changes in policy - particularly with respect to illegal immigration . . .
