One of the biggest traps people fall into is building their identity around external validation.
Likes.
Approval.
Praise.
Being understood.
Being accepted.
Being told they’re “right.”
The problem is external validation is unstable because it depends entirely on other people’s moods, beliefs, biases, projections, trends, and comfort levels.
If your self-worth requires constant agreement from the outside world, you’ll spend your life shape-shifting to avoid rejection.
That’s not empowerment.
That’s dependency.
Self-validation is different.
It’s the ability to trust your own judgment even when other people don’t immediately understand you.
It’s knowing who you are without needing consensus from the crowd.
It’s being willing to disappoint people rather than abandon yourself.
Not everyone is supposed to approve of you.
And honestly, if everyone does, you’re probably filtering yourself too much. 👁️
