“Why would I need a lawyer for my insurance claim?”
Honestly… it’s a fair question.
Most homeowners assume the process should be simple:
👉 Something gets damaged
👉 You pay your premiums
👉 The insurance company pays to fix it
That’s how people THINK it works.
But here’s the reality:
Insurance claims are often treated like a business negotiation. Because for insurance companies, every dollar paid on a claim is a dollar they no longer keep.
And many insurance companies are massive for-profit corporations with:
* Shareholders
* Revenue goals
* Internal metrics
* Entire departments focused on claim costs
That doesn’t mean every insurance company is evil.
But it DOES mean homeowners need to understand:
The person on the other side of the claim is often trained to protect the company’s financial interests.
Not yours.
That’s why attorneys, public adjusters, contractors, engineers, and other experts become so important during the claims process.
Not because every claim turns into a lawsuit.
Most don’t.
But because homeowners are usually walking into a highly technical process without realizing:
👉 The insurance company already has experts involved from day one.
The goal isn’t to “fight” unnecessarily.
The goal is to level the playing field.
Because when major property damage happens, most people are:
* Stressed
* Overwhelmed
* Trying to rebuild their lives
And that’s exactly when costly mistakes happen.
Understanding how the system actually works is one of the best ways to protect yourself before problems start.
