Fun fact:

The human body has what’s called the Endocannabinoid System, which researchers mapped the cellular receptors in the late 1980’s to the 1990’s.

It is amazing how our body is built to utilize cannabis in a variety of ways.

Today let’s look at the topic of high levels of THC in products, and how limiting them can be dangerous to patients well being.

With medical cannabis therapy the goal is never to start patients out on high doses. A person will gradually build a tolerance like most medications, and so they would then increase the dosing. For patients who have utilized medical cannabis therapy for long amounts of time on a regular basis they will often have a much higher tolerance therefore requiring higher levels of THC.

Medical cannabis therapy should be tailored to the patients needs and all patients have various factors to consider in treatment. Medical cannabis therapy is not a one genetic fits all medical needs, just as the pharmaceutical synthetic cannabis medications aren’t effective for all patients (synthetic can never fully compare with organic natural, look at Marinol from the past). This is an issue that will cause a conundrum as the states and federal government address the lowering of the scheduling…..

Yesterday was a great example of the need for more education for those in the medical field. Pop’s had surgery for his bladder cancer yesterday, and was the king of the recovery room as he educated the nurses about medical cannabis and the history and applications….

Instead of them treating poorly or shaming him over his preference of medical cannabis, they listened learned and asked where they could learn more.

As the transition to the federal scheduling continues the demand for education in the medical field is going to need to be met. We at The Arbella Group are excited to be of service and to help bring understanding about the research and history for those in the medical field!

Since the media's hot topic of the day across the country is about a jump in nausea from using cannabis........

We'd like to pose a few questions...... Are the doctors looking at what types of cannabis was used (company, batch number)? Was it a remediated product sold under the guise of the so-called safety standards currently in place? Was it off the streets and have possible contaminants? And why is it this issue has skyrocketed since remediated cannabis became a thing?

Just some things to ponder as you walk into your weekend......

As costs of energy continue to climb, the cannabis industry is feeling the pinch. As Michigan and other states are continually allowing energy companies to increase rates, cannabis companies are having budget issues keeping up with the increasing bills.......

Cannabis wholesale prices have collapsed while power rates climb. Auditors, brokers and growers explain why energy strategy now decides who survives.

Today let's talk about Texas, and the shifts in cannabis policy. It has been a gigantic shift backwards, that takes away medical necessity for a variety of patients and forces them to utilize less effective methods for them. Many patients need higher THC based products for their ailments, and the fact that 400 mgs of THC is now punishable for up to 99 years is terrifying for many.

It is an interesting move considering the federal government is working on figuring out federal regulations......

We are standing with Texas in saying...... "make it make sense."

Recently Forbes, US Health Testing, Fisher Phillips and other media outlets, lawyers, and more are talking about employment and cannabis testing. It is estimated that now only about 50% of companies are requiring testing for cannabis previous to hiring.

Things to ponder........that's still 50% of the job market that is closed to both patients or recreational users of cannabis. Qualified candidates for employment positions can't even bother to apply because of discrimination of their choice of medication, or in the recreational cannabis cases what a person chooses to do legally in the comfort of their own home. In an economy where employers are in need of workers you would think the state would finally want to address this issue.

After Joseph Casias v Walmart's horrible ruling, employment rights for carded legal medical patients went up in smoke (no pun intended). Since then, the state of Michigan has done nothing to address the issue despite it affecting a huge population of people. The silence and inaction of our legislators create a blockage of qualified people for employment, despite employers needing employees.

There are a few simple changes that the legislation could pass that would absolve this issue and open the job market back up with qualified candidates for both medical cannabis and recreational consumers....... It would seem in the economic state current legislation would act to open jobs up for the betterment of our people and economy. The topic has been ignored for way too long.

Will legislators try to make effective change before elections, or will the legislators continue to ignore the issues at hand?

More reports today of abuse in Michigan's prison systems. Our State is failing to address the issues that are plaguing the prisons. The staff nor prisoners are safe, and the solutions to many of the big issues plaguing the system are not easy. The longer Michigan continues to ignore the issues the worse it's going to get at the cost of the staff, prisoners, and all those who have loved ones who either are staff or inmates.

While prison issues tend to be ignored, it is basic human rights continuing to be ignored. The staff and prisoners are endangered every day with the inaction.

The staffing shortages are going to continue to get worse without action, and bringing in the National Guard is not a long term fix especially as they are not trained to handle inmate issues. While the staff are being forced to work mandatory doubles and overtime, suffering burn, out in a high alert, violent, and dangerous environment daily for a pay rate that is incredibly low compared to nearby states.....the inmates aren't getting yard time, programs meant to rehabilitate them, or proper healthcare. The prisons don't have good temperature control and both inmates and staff have had to suffer extreme heat in stagnating buildings.

How many people have to be hurt? How many human rights violations must be had? How many lawsuits need to be filed for the State to fix the issues?

At the Arbella Group, we advocate for staff and prisoners in hopes of bringing positive changes.

As we discuss areas that are in desperate need of change in medical cannabis laws and cannabis laws, it comes from a place of concern for the patients, patrons, and the cannabis companies of Michigan. We hope to address the hard topics and wish the current legislators would as well instead of punting the issues onto the new legislative body after the elections.

As the political races heat up, we hope to hear candidates talk about their restoration plans for the medical cannabis patients and recreational patrons, as well as the company’s that make the industry. We would love to help give unique insights to help bring restoration.

Simply put, the patients, people, and companies deserve better than the treatment that has been had for years. As public servants your job is to serve the people that give you the opportunity and trust to do best by them.

It has been heartbreaking to see our state tumble since the current licensing system became active, and we highly concerned over the damages ahead for all if Public Act 268 of 2013 isn’t addressed. We look forward to helping restore Michigan along side many others to be a part of the solution for the hard issues Michigan faces.
