Adopt A Graduate:

There are a lot of people with good intentions who have started Adopt a Graduate sites with the purpose of lifting the spirits of the graduates who cannot have graduation ceremonies. In theory this sounds like a lot of fun. For most of the kids this is a great thing. However, there is so much personal information being released about these graduates that can possibly put these graduates in danger. By giving out this information you are exposing your children to predators, traffickers, and abusers. You are telling strangers where you live. You are telling strangers very personal things about your children. You are letting your children know that it is acceptable to accept extravagant gifts from strangers. You are inadvertently making your children vulnerable. You may think that this post is dramatic or an over exaggeration but look where this is coming from. We represent children. We have the knowledge and training to know what can happen. Please be careful.
